Commerce Minister Goyal stated that discussions regarding a free trade agreement with Chile have reached a stage where conclusion is quite ripe. He also noted that parallel trade negotiations with Canada are making steady progress toward deeper economic ties.

The minister added that the stable continuity of the government in Brazil will serve as a catalyst to speed up ongoing negotiations aimed at expanding the Preferential Trade Agreement between India and the Mercosur trading bloc. Trade pact expansions help domestic industries secure better market access, reduce tariffs, and boost bilateral commerce volumes across international borders.
